This is the summary of consumer reviews for Zojirushi SL-JAE14SA Mr. Bento Stainless Steel Lunch Jar. The BoolPool rating for this product is Very Good, with 4.40 stars, and the price range is $39.99-$59.99.
The Zojirushi SL-JAE14SA Mr. Bento Stainless Steel Lunch Jar comes with four different sized containers that allow you to pack a multi-course lunch of both hot and cold items easily and securely. With Zojirushi's renowned vacuum insulation technology, air between the two thin layers of stainless steel on the outer container is removed, creating a vacuum. Because there is no air, the temperature on the outside does not transfer into the container; keeping foods hot or cold for hours. All pieces should be washed by hand with non-abrasive cleaning pads. Inner bowls are microwave-safe. A spork with its own protective cover attaches to the Mr. Bento lunch jar, and the jar itself has its own lid with lock and comes in a zippered nylon carry bag with a strap for easy transport. There are little pockets on the sides of the carry bag for some small extra items like sauce packets or other accessories.
The Large Soup Bowl: The 9-1/2-ounce soup bowl comes with gasket-sealed lid that minimizes leaks and is ideal for holding soups, dips, or fruit cocktail. It sits at the bottom of the outer container, where vacuum insulation keeps the foods hot or cold for hours.
The Main Bowl: The 15.2-ounce main bowl is designed to hold the main course. The outer container's vacuum insulation and the insulated lid of the main bowl help keep foods hot or cold for hours without reheating or refrigeration.
The Side Bowls: The Mr. Bento comes with two side bowls, one large 10.1-ounce and one small 6.8-ounce that sits inside the lid. They are ideal for foods that should be kept room temperature, such as chips, nuts or snacks. The side bowls are not insulated.
However, there were some concerns like the bowls are not dishwasher safe. It was also instructed that the bowls or containers should not be microwaved with lids on. The rice bowl comes with a thick and insulated lid but it’s not airtight, and instruction say to use this container only for rice as other contents may spill. Also, many reviewers said that the size of the top two containers (room temperature) are not enough for American sized sandwiches or breads. Another point worth mentioning is the soft plastic grade material will eventually pick up strong smell and stains of food, but soaking the containers in hot waters for 5 minutes on a daily basis can help curb this problem.
Overall, Zojirushi SL-JAE14SA Mr.Bento Stainless Steel Lunch Jar tickles the creativity for taking a healthier, tastier and interesting lunch or snacks for children or adults.
