Pros & Cons
Garmin Forerunner 310XT is a GPS-enabled training device that isn't afraid of the water in pool or lake. The rugged Forerunner 310XT is the triathlete's indispensable training tool - a GPS-enabled trainer that is water-resistant to 50 m, tracks data in multiple sport modes and sends it wirelessly to computer. This multi-sport device has an easy to read display, a nice backlight and up to 20 hours of battery life. It tracks distance, pace and heart rate on land, and goes from wrist to bike in seconds. With a new software update it now accurately estimates open water swim distance and average speed.
Forerunner 310XT categorizes multi-sport activities in one workout and also can log transition time in the process, so you can analyze your performance from start to finish. High-sensitivity GPS and HotFix® satellite prediction mean Forerunner acquires satellites quickly and tracks your movement even near tall buildings or under tree cover. And using innovative ANT+ wireless technology, this GPS watch connects seamlessly to an optional heart rate monitor, foot pod and cadence sensor. When paired with the optional wireless heart rate monitor, it can continuously track beats per minute and use heart rate data in advanced calorie computation.
A few reviewers find this watch to be too bulky to use while swimming and some reported that it does not work well in water. Also, setting up this watch could take more time and at time, could be frustrating too.
Overall, Garmin Forerunner 310XT is a significantly better GPS watch when compared to its predecessor. It offers a lot of new features for triathletes, a nice user interface with 4 screens and ability to go on battery for up to 20 hours. The watch is expensive but users find it worth its price.
