Jules Verne's illustrious 19th century work "Around the World in 80 Days" has been the inspiration for one of modern day's rollicking, adventurous, and high-paced board games - Ticket to Ride. Like Phileas Fogg, the intrepid traveler in you gets to 'travel-gamble' in this fast paced journey. So get on board, wager all your bets in a cross country ride through North America with a twist - the longer your routes the more points you rake.Pardner, you need your thinking caps for this one as you lay down the routes, strategize new game plays and learn about all the North American Train routes you never ever dreamed of knowing in your lifetime! Each time you open the board it's a fresh approach to travel, making every game different from the other.

An enjoyable family game with straightforward rules, this one entertains tweens, teens and even the grandpas and grandmas. For the Speedy Mcallisters out there, this trip takes just around 60 minutes, unlike other board games like Monopoly and Risk. A challenging and unpredictable game till the very end, this excursion is pleasantly competitive, leading to lesser bout of tears when it's played out.

With a variety of play pieces from a board map of train routes,240 colored train cars to 110 train car card and 5 wooden scoring markers, this is a well-engineered(pun intended!) game. Unfortunately, the pieces are small and can be lost easily. The game does burn a hole in your wallet, and the hole can deepen if you want to purchase the additional (but really helpful) expansion set. It also limits the players to 5 so if your party has more, well, maybe they can be cheerleaders!

Overall, Ticket to Ride is an addictive, highly recommended game that is educational as well as recreational, with a huge dose of fun involved. Have a game night? Bring your 'hot ticket' out and your guests may just want to keep riding till dawn! Can someone pull the chain please???!!!
