Pros & Cons
Wahoo Fitness Blue HR Heart Rate Strap with App combination serves as a great training and monitoring device for all your fitness routines. It connects wirelessly to the iPhone 5, 4S, iPod Touch (5th generation), iPod Nano (7th generation), iPad (3rdand 4th generation) and iPad Mini, without the need for any adapters. It features a comfortable chest strap with a two snap connection that is easy to wear and adjustable. The Wahoo Blue HR is waterproof up to 5 feet to protect against water and sweat, making it an ideal accessory for beach runs, jogs in the rain and even while working up a sweat in the gym. However, it does not transmit data underwater or while swimming.
Wahoo HRM works with the most popular running, cycling and fitness Apps such as Runmeter, RunKeeper, Cyclemeter, Strava, MapMyRun, Endomondo, Runtastic, Wahoo Fitness (included) and dozens more. The workout data is easily and wirelessly uploaded to popular training websites such as TrainingPeaks, MapMyRUN, Nike+, Garmin Connect or Strava so you can track your fitness over time and email your workout data.
Some reviewers have faced some initial hiccups of needing to pair and un-pair it a couple of times. Once you can get past some of the starting issues, the app works accurately. You can pair and select a number of devices to use with each workout, such as cadence, heart rate, GPS data and more.
Overall, Wahoo Fitness blue is a low energy Bluetooth HR monitor available with one of the most fully featured and well-connected apps. It is easy to use device, with no extensive set up required except pairing it to your preferred fitness app. It tracks heart rate, time spent in each heart rate zone, max heart rate, average heart rate, and calories burned while you work out.
Note: Wahoo HRM does not work with the iPhone 3G, 3GS or 4 and is not compatible with ANT technology.
